Below is a guide of the amount to feed daily -  recommended by our nutritionist, under veterinary guidelines. These amounts should be adjusted inline with your dogs individual needs. 

As pet owners, we are always wary of the phrase “changing dog food.” But here’s the silver lining with Ouzil—it doesn’t have to be a complicated affair. While a dog’s digestive system can be sensitive to abrupt changes, Ouzil understands this and offers a seamless integration guide.

Begin by integrating a small percentage of Ouzil into your dog’s current food. As days progress (ideally it takes about 5 days to complete the transition), gradually elevate the Ouzil amount. The gentle transition ensures your pet’s stomach acclimatises without a fuss.

Days 1-2: Scoop a small amount of Ouzil into your pets current food. (eg for a canine - 100g of a 400g meal)

Days 3: Mix 50% of your pets Fresh Ouzil portion with their current food.

Days 4: Mix 75% of their Fresh Ouzil portion with 25% of their current food.

Day 5: Serve 100% of their Fresh Ouzil portion.

Thawing the Right Way:

If you’ve stored extra Ouzil Meals in the freezer for prolonged freshness, you’ll need to thaw them before serving. Transfer the meal pack from the freezer to the refrigerator (ideally overnight) before you plan to serve it. This allows for a slow, safe thawing process, which retains the meal’s texture and taste.

One of the fantastic features of Ouzil is its portion sizes in the 250g, 600g & 1000g, so their should never be any waste if you buy the correct sizes for your dogs needs. When splitting the pouches a handy kitchen scale can be a game-changer in getting those portions just right! 

All of the pouches are resealable.

Once you’ve portioned out the desired amount, it’s time to plate up! You could use your dog’s regular bowl, but why not occasionally switch things up?

Try using a shallow dish to spread out the food.

We highly recommend warming the meal to more than room temperature, as don't we prefer a warm meal, especially on a cold day.

Warning; The scotch egg creates a lot of excitement ... and a lot of mess. We recommend cutting into smaller pieces if feeding from a bowl inside, or feed outside.

Letting the food sit at room temperature for about 15-20 minutes can significantly enhance the taste experience. It allows the flavors to meld and ensures your pet isn’t tackling food that’s to cold.

Un opened, Ouzil's meal pouches last for five days in the refrigerator. Once an Ouzil meal pouch is opened, it can still safely sit in the refrigerator for up to five days providing it is sealed after each use. This prevents external contaminants and maintains the food’s optimal freshness. If you ever notice a change in smell or texture before this five-day period, it’s best to discard the food. You can of course freeze the pouches for up to six months. Be sure to thaw out thoroughly before feeding. 

Your dog’s nutritional needs aren’t static; they evolve with age, activity level, health status, and even seasonally. Here are some scenarios where revisiting the meal plan might be necessary:

• Weight Changes: Significant weight gain or loss might indicate a need for caloric adjustments.
